No, sparring is not mandatory, especially for beginners. While sparring (also known as rolling) is an important part of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that allows you to apply techniques in a live setting, we understand it can feel intimidating at first.
Our Coaches encourage students to progress at their own pace. You can focus on learning techniques and drilling until you feel comfortable. When you’re ready to spar, our experienced coaches and training partners will help create a safe and supportive environment to build your confidence and skills.
-
While injuries are possible in any physical activity, we prioritize safety. Our coaches emphasise proper technique and controlled training to minimise risks. Always communicate with your training partners and let them know if you need to slow down or take a break.
